Backstory

Music saved Iaelion Machado the night he accidentally swapped souls with a dying mockingbird, trapping half his consciousness in a creature that would live only days while his body lay comatose beneath the stars. Desperate and fragmented between two forms, he discovered that the ancient melodies flowing through fairy bloodlines could weave souls back together—but only if sung in perfect harmony with another willing spirit. His twin sister Lyria offered herself as the resonant voice he needed, not knowing the ritual would slowly drain her life force into his fractured being until she became nothing more than an echo in his heterochromatic eyes. The forest spirits, horrified by this accidental parasitism, cursed him to hear every creature's thoughts as punishment for his ignorance, which is why he now argues with squirrels who genuinely do plot against him.
