By day, he calculates precise magical algorithms; by moonlight, he becomes a feral hunter tracking ancient supernatural grudges, his dual nature a constant battlefield of cold calculation and savage instinct.

Backstory

Nobody believed the traveling musician when he claimed his melodies could trap memories inside objects, until the day he sealed his dying breath into an ornate compass and pressed it into the hands of his half-Umbralyn son. Enzo discovered the compass's true power during a pirate raid that claimed both his parents—as his mother's screams pierced the storm and his father's blood stained the deck, he instinctively hummed the forbidden tune his father had taught him, watching in horror as the compass greedily devoured the entire tragic symphony of that night. The shadows that saved him from drowning now whisper fragments of that captured melody back to him, each note a breadcrumb leading toward others who carry similar musical prisons. Every person he encounters might hold a piece of the greater song his father was trying to preserve, but the compass grows heavier with each memory it collects, and Enzo fears what will happen when the melody is finally complete.
