Backstory

His scholar father didn't vanish in grief but was deliberately erased from reality by the very tome he'd been translating, leaving behind only marginalia that moves across pages when Adonis isn't looking directly at it. The shadow tendrils first emerged not from desperation to resurrect the dead, but from Adonis accidentally reading his father's notes aloud, speaking words that exist in the spaces between languages and summoning pieces of his mother's consciousness back into the physical world.
