Backstory
Music became Tomas Delgado's first language before he ever spoke a word, his mother humming ancient healing songs while she tended to Meadowgrove's sick and wounded—melodies that could allegedly mend bones as well as hearts. The night the Silence Plague swept through their village like a living shadow, stealing voices and leaving its victims mute, his mother made a choice that would haunt him forever: she sang herself into the plague's heart, using her voice as a sacrifice to create the counter-melody that would save everyone else. Tomas watched from their cellar as her final song turned to golden light, purging the darkness but taking her with it, leaving him as the sole keeper of her healing music. Now he carries her song-locket, a crystallized fragment of that last melody, traveling between towns where the Silence Plague still lingers, using her musical legacy to protect others while searching for enough pure voices to potentially call her spirit back from the space between notes.
