Elder Elowen found young Calista days later, still humming the same melody while surrounded by a protective circle of grateful spirits who had chosen to shield the child who freed them. Now she serves as an intermediary between the mortal and spirit realms, her touch capable of reading the memories stored in bark and stone, translating the whispered secrets of beings who exist between worlds. When she freed the dryad Lira from poachers' snares, it marked the beginning of her role as guardian of the delicate balance her parents died to preserve.
