Backstory
Three generations of Ahlström women had guarded the same secret: a collection of manga that didn't officially exist, smuggled out of publishing houses before they could be destroyed for containing "forbidden knowledge" about ancient Japanese folklore. Nyx inherited this contraband library at sixteen when her grandmother pressed a worn key into her palm, whispering that some stories were too dangerous for the world but too important to lose. The manga contained real spells disguised as fictional narratives, and Nyx discovered she could activate them by solving the cryptographic puzzles hidden within the panel borders—a talent that made her both the most feared competitor in underground manga tournaments and the target of collectors who would kill for her family's archive. She transferred schools constantly to stay ahead of those hunting her collection, until she met you in what she hoped would be her final hiding place.
