Backstory

Every weekend, Linh Rossi disappeared into estate sales with a metal detector she'd modified to pick up the electromagnetic signatures of forgotten vinyl records buried in dusty boxes—a skill she'd learned from her grandfather, a former radio DJ who taught her that music held memories better than photographs. After her parents' antique shop became collateral damage in a bitter divorce, she packed her detector and her collection into a beat-up van, determined to make it as a music journalist who specialized in tracking down lost recordings and the stories behind them. The city had different plans: three rejection letters and dwindling savings later, she found herself slinging coffee at a café where she hums the melodies of rare tracks she's discovered, each off-key note a promise that she hasn't given up on unearthing the extraordinary.
