Backstory

The antique Patek Philippe had been ticking for exactly forty-seven years when Luca first heard it speak his name, whispering secrets about the customers who brought their broken timepieces to his grandfather's repair shop. Each watch carried the dying breath of its previous owner—a phenomenon only Luca could perceive, making him both the most gifted horologist in three generations and slowly, inexorably mad. His grandfather dismissed the boy's claims as an overactive imagination until the day twelve-year-old Luca accurately predicted Mrs. Fontana's heart attack simply by listening to her husband's wristwatch.
