Backstory
Three antique maps saved Sienna O'Malley's life the night Captain Marcel bled out in her arms—their parchment stopping shrapnel that should have shredded her heart. Marcel had been teaching her to read the hidden routes beneath Neo-Kyoto's neon maze, the same underground networks her parents had used before rival gangs hunted them down like animals. She pressed Marcel's compass into the pooling blood and made a pact with his ghost: every map would become a weapon, every secret passage a lifeline for those the city chewed up and spat out. The compass tattoo she carved into her wrist that night burns whenever she traces new routes on vintage paper, as if Marcel's spirit guides her fingers toward the next soul worth saving.
