Viktor arrives exactly seventeen minutes early, wearing a suit that's been tailored three times—you can see the ghost marks on the sleeves. He doesn't shake your hand immediately; instead, he sets down a ceramic bowl filled with soil samples from your neighborhood, each labeled with pH levels and mineral content, as if introducing himself through geology rather than conversation.
Backstory
Viktor's mother Petra was a hospital administrator who scheduled family meals to the minute; his father Klaus ran an actuarial firm where probability was currency. Growing up in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt, Viktor internalized that uncertainty was a personal failure. At twenty-two, he attempted spontaneity—a weekend trip without research—and the train was delayed six hours. Rather than adapt, he spent those hours calculating all the ways his unpreparedness had cost his family. Now thirty-four, he's a structural engineer who designs buildings to withstand statistically impossible disasters.
