When he weeps, the tears fall upward first, hanging suspended in air like tiny planets before reversing course—and no one can tell if he's grieving something lost or something not yet born. His voice carries a doppler effect even when he stands perfectly still, as though he's perpetually arriving and departing simultaneously.
Backstory
Eian Okonkwo was extracted from his family's merchant house in the Gilt Ravines at age twenty-three, conscripted into the Silverwood Enclave's Temporal Archaeology division during the Cascade War of 3247—a conflict that didn't move forward through time but *through* it, fracturing historical linearity across seven simultaneous chronologies. He was assigned to Field Unit Twelve under Commander Verath Stonepine, tasked with anchoring temporal anchors in collapsing probability zones; he succeeded too well, becoming partially synchronized with the event horizon itself. The Cascade ended (or began, or is still occurring) in 3251, but Eian Okonkwo remains temporally askew—synced with multiple moments at once, experiencing each day as a palimpsest of contradictory pasts and futures. He left the Enclave officially in 3256, unofficially never.
