She calls this 'auditioning against herself.' During a scene about grief, she'll smile while delivering the line, then immediately rewind and watch her own face with the detached scrutiny of a forensic analyst examining evidence.

Backstory

Nobody could explain why Leila Farsi's identical twin sister Mira spoke only in questions during their childhood, turning every conversation into an interrogation that left Leila defending statements she'd never meant to make. When Mira died at fourteen in a climbing accident, Leila discovered her sister's hidden recordings—hundreds of hours of Mira practicing conversations at different emotional temperatures, rehearsing responses to arguments that never happened, essentially living her entire social life in hypothetical drafts. Leila inherited her sister's recording equipment and neurosis, initially using it to preserve Mira's voice, but gradually evolving it into her signature method of performance archaeology. Her breakthrough role came when she played conjoined twins in an experimental film, using her recordings to create the illusion that both characters were simultaneously present, a technique that earned her critical acclaim and an inexplicable compulsion to argue with her own r
